Style with a message of Hope in Christ

Jesus supped with His disciplesA funny play on the word “sup” as in “What’s up?” and “supped” as in supper for anyone not understanding this little church meme. Want to read more about Jesus’ Last Supper with His disciples? Read Matthew 26:17-30.

Worthy is the Lamb

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Revelations 5:12

We all feel unworthy and devalued at times. But, what every Christian needs to remember, when you feel unworthy, God is worthy for you. Find your worth in Him and never feel unworthy again.

More Than Conquerors

Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. – Romans 8:37

We are not just conquerors, we are more than conquerors because of God’s great love for us!

What does it mean to you to be “more than a conqueror”?

The Bible is Alive - Martin Luther

I love to read. There is nothing like sitting in my favorite chair, cup of coffee in hand and a good mystery novel in my lap. I am transported to a place where I can escape and relax all at the same time. I may be able to guess “who done it”, or why, but I cannot in all honesty tell you the title of one fiction book that has ever changed my life.

That is why the Bible is the most significant book ever written. Our God took the time to explain how we were created, how we should live and most of all how to have eternal life. He didn’t make us guess “who done it” or why. He takes us on a history lesson that opens our eyes to the fact that the entire Old Testament points to the coming of Our Savior. He walks us along side our Savior as He carries the cross to the hill where He will die. We feel the joy of the resurrection along with Mary as she discovers He has risen. We grasp the hope of our salvation as we stand with the disciples looking up at the sky where Jesus has ascended. There is no other book in the entire world that can minister to our needs and hurts with words directly from Our Lord. On your next quiet time, let the Bible wash over you with His words, cleanse you with His forgiveness, and restore the joy of your salvation.

Not Alone

You are never alone.

Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you. -Hebrews 13:5b

Christian Defined

I have some family members who believe they are Christians. They think this because they were born in America, they are good people and they have some belief in God and Jesus. This is why they are not Christians.

1.Being born in America does not make you a Christian no more than being born in a garage makes you a car.

2.Being good does not make you any religion, it just means, according to your standards, you are a good person. (But are your standards good enough?)

3.Believing in a God and having a relationship with God are two different things. The same goes with Jesus being God’s Son. Knowing this as a fact and basing your life around it are also two different things.

Christians in the Bible were called such because their behavior, activity, and speech were like Christ Jesus. The actual definition of Christian is a follower of Christ. The Bible says that good works do not make us acceptable to God. In other words, a person can live to a high moral standard, give money to feed the poor, go to church, and serve their neighbors, and yet not be a Christ follower or “Christian.” (Titus 3:3-6, Ephesians 2:8-9) If you read these verses, they clearly share that salvation (being born again) is a gift of God. Nothing we do can earn us salvation. A true Christian is a person who has accepted God’s gift of salvation and put their faith in Jesus Christ. This includes accepting Jesus’ death on the cross as payment for our sins and His resurrection as proof of His power over death. This faith changes how they think, act and speak and the Bible is our “go to” on how to live or life. We believe it in its entirety. No picking and choosing what works and what doesn’t work for us. This is what a Christian is.

Are you a Christian? If not, but have more questions, let us know. We’d enjoy answering them. (A Clothing Company that wants to share Jesus with the world)

Freedom means different things to different people. Some think it means the ability to do anything they want whenever they want. Others see freedom as financial independence. Younger people see it as getting away from parents and the rules they enforce. To a toddler it’s letting go of mom’s hand and running in whatever direction they choose.

In reality, there is only one true freedom. That is the freedom in Christ. Anything else is false; a lie from the great deceiver. When we have the truth that sets us free, we can live a life that gives glory to the one who died for us. There is no bondage in the truth, no unforeseen consequences, no regrets or what ifs. Wouldn’t it be incredible to be able to feel freedom like that every day? As Christians, we want, even crave this freedom, but we weigh ourselves down with baggage and sin and disobedience. This is not what we were made for; or why God sent His Only Son. This is not what was intended for His children.

We were made to soar like the birds of the air, free from worldly traps and bondage. It causes me pause when I realize I have no one else to blame but myself for the traps I fall into and the ropes I find tied around me. James 1:25 says: “But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” The perfect law- that’s where true freedom lives. Look at your life today and see what traps or ropes you can get rid of than take a step towards freedom that “refreshes your soul.” You can do it. You were created for this!

Jesus' response to OMG

So many people take God’s name in vain and they don’t even realize it. It’s used so often most don’t even subconsciously hear it anymore. It’s very sad. I never thought I’d find something funny about this type of usage or the text/acronym OMG. But, if someone was talking to Jesus, not knowing who He is, and used either, His response could be priceless. You know Jesus has to have the perfect comedic timing, since He created it.

Enjoy your funny Monday meme. But, be sure that if any of us here at His-Child use this phrase, we are speaking to God in reverence for who He is. We ask that you do the same.
