It’s another day and another piece of God’s armor to put on before we start our day. So far, we’ve put on the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness and Readied our Feet with the Gospel of Peace. Today, we are going to pick up our Shield of Faith. Now, you might be in the middle or the end of your day and realize that you’ve not put any armor on. That’s okay. Pick it up now! Satan’s attacks are everywhere and at all times. Protect your self!

Read Ephesians 6:10-17 and then re-read verse 16 which says, “In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” Shields, in Paul’s day, were large and covered in oil-treated leather in order to protect the entire body. The oil quenched the flaming arrows shot by enemies. The Shield is our basic trust in God, His Word, and His promise. This trust in God protects us from the temptations of Satan. The fiery darts are the temptations Satan throws at us.

Ephesians 6:16

Has God ever broken any of His promises? NO. There is no record in the Bible of God breaking any promises that He has made. There are some promises that have not been fulfilled yet, but that does not mean they are broken. And, sometimes God fulfills our promises in ways we don’t expect nor could predict. He’s always working in ways we do not understand.

Our Shield of Faith (in God) means relying on Him, His Word and the Promises He makes in His Word no matter how hard that might be. Now, it’s your turn. Name some of the promises God has given to Christians or to His people in history. Here are just a few…

God will never leave nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6)

God’s has great plans for me. (Jeremiah 29:11)

God will supply all my needs. (Philippians 4:19)

If I confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in my heart that God raised him from the dead, I will be saved. (Romans 10:9)

What promise of God do you need to lean and apply today? Pray and ask God to help you pick up your Shield to fight off those arrows Satan keeps throwing your way.

On Thursday we will cover the 5th piece of armor. But, until then keep an eye out on His-Child.com.
