2 Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” But, what does it mean to “grow in grace”?
First, we must understand what grace is. Grace is the free and undeserved favor of God or God’s favor toward the unworthy. Ephesians 2:8-9 says that we are saved by grace through faith. To “grow in grace” is to grow and mature as a Christian.
In 1 Corinthians 3 Paul is writing a letter to a group of people who were young in their faith and seems to have remained that way. We think being young is a good thing, but when it comes to the growth and knowledge of our Lord, our desire should be to grow and mature. I always say, when we try to stand still in our relationship with Christ, instead of grow in it, we look up one day and realize we are farther away from Him than we thought possible.
So, how do you grow in God’s Grace? How do you mature your relationship in Christ? Is it in church attendance, personal bible study and prayer time, studying and teaching God’s word to others? http://www.his-child.com
