Have you ever read the book “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” by Judith Viorst? Well, if you have then you will understand what kind of day my mom was having. She did not drop her sweater in the toilet but short of that it was a very bad day. When everything seems to go wrong, we tend to forget the blessings we have. They are overshadowed- still there but very hard to see. The enemy loves to get us to focus on the shadow instead of the light. But, our God is good.
James 1:17 says,“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
If we stop for just a moment and look around us, we will be able to see through the shadows. If we have the Lord in our life, even the worst day is better than any day without Him.
If you are wondering if things got any better…my daughter handed my mom a dandelion flower from the yard and said, “this is for you grandma.” That was all it took for her to see through the shadow. Our God is good!
