Style with a message of Hope in Christ

Created for FellowshipThey devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. (Acts 2:42) Life is best when it’s shared with others. This Sunday, I’m going to my church. I will connect with God and with those around me who are doing the same. Of course we can connect with God on our own, and we do, but connecting with Him and fellow believers is refreshing. Are you going to church?

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. – Matthew 18:20

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them. – Matthew 18:20

I love to gather with several women from my church. They are an uplifting group who point me to Jesus and remind me how valuable I am to Him and to them. God must be there when we gather, because who else would give them these words to say. And when our whole church comes together, the presence of God, can at times, be overwhelming. This is why we gather!

Pray for the many in Florida who are gathering in grief, seeking answers and comfort. Ask God to let them feel His presence and love.

Who can you encourage today?

We all have rough days. Some of us have rough weeks, months and years. I had a rough day recently. But, between my husband and my group of girlfriends, I have an amazing support system. They lifted me up. Reminded me that I’m worth more than I think I am and pointed me to God’s word.

Who in your life needs support and encouragement? Could you text them with some encouraging words? Or, could you share your favorite Bible verse with that friend who needs it? Be a blessing to someone by focusing on them and not on yourself.

I have awesome friends. God has created each of us different and that’s what makes getting together with them so much fun. We use our talents and abilities to complement one another. For example, we get together every few months and have a Pinterest night. We choose a project, get the supplies needed and meet at someone’s house to work on our projects, eat and help each other. I am almost always the one whose Pinterest project fails. (I wish I had pictures of all my fails to show you. But, there’d be a lot of photos.) I’ve tried many things and they almost always go wrong. I’ve gotten to the point that I just bring food and paint my nails, because I can do that. However, my friends don’t stop inviting me. They’ve stated preparing for my arrival and how they can help me. And when I do fail, I am surrounded by encouragement and some laughter depending on how bad my outcome was.

However, no matter how great these group of women are, they pale in comparison to my friend Jesus Christ. And they know this. They would never assume that I would put them before my Jesus. They’d probably be offended if I did because they would never put me before Jesus either.

Jesus Christ is the full friendship package. He will never fail me. He is always there for me. John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” That’s exactly what Christ did for me. He laid His life down so that I might live. If you are searching for a true friend, stop looking around for someone to fill the void and start looking toward Jesus. Work on this relationship first. Encourage one another and build each other up. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

My mom has a best friend. She is the kind of person who knows her, the real her, and still loves her.  This friend is what my mom likes to call the other half of her brain.  They cry together and laugh together and share struggles and joys.  There are times when her friend must “talk her off the ledge” and there are times when my mom does the same for her.  The best part is, they are good enough friends that they can tell each other what they do not want to hear.

The truth hurts sometimes but who can make you see it better than a friend who cares for you.  God has given my mom a true blessing putting her friend in her life.  She encourages my mom and builds her up. She is a sister in Christ. If you have someone like that, TAG HER IN THE COMMENTS and thank God for them and let them know how much you care about them.

If you do not, pray that the Lord will bless you with someone who will be there for you and encourage you in the Lord.  This world is hard, but it gets a little easier when you have a good friend.  Go find the other half of your brain!
